Chick-fil-A Closes for Remodel July 13

The restaurant is expected re-open by the end of the year with indoor seating.

Fans of Chick-fil-A should get their fill by July 13.

That’s when the restaurant at 5302 E. Fowler Ave. will temporarily close for a remodel, according to an announcement on the Chick-fil-A at Fower Avenue Facebook page.

Chick-fil-A’s 838-square-foot kitchen and 1,600-square-foot outdoor covered seating area and restrooms will be knocked down and replaced with a new 4,105-square-foot indoor restaurant, according to minutes from the June 4 Temple Terrace City Council meeting.

The new restaurant will be located in the east portion of the property. It will have a two-lane drive-thru that will combine into one lane at the window area.

One of the biggest changes will be the vehicle entrance and exit to the restaurant. Currently, motorists can enter the property from Fowler Avenue or 53rd Street and only exit from 53rd Street. During the remodel, the driveway from Fowler Avenue will be completely removed, and the only vehicle entrance and exit will be from 53rd Street.

The service road behind Chick-fil-A from 53rd to 56th streets that has access to Taco Bell and CVS will remain open.

The bus stop in front of the restaurant will be moved to west of 53rd Street.

The property will have many trees, according to the June 4 minutes. Several of the existing trees will be preserved, including one large oak tree in front of the restaurant. Several new trees will also be added.

The remodel should be completed by the end of the year.

During the June 4 meeting, Temple Terrace Mayor Frank Chillura said all of the restaurant’s employees will be given jobs at other locations during the remodel. He commended Chick-fil-A’s commitment to its employees and the community.

Fans of the location’s Facebook page said they have mixed feelings about the remodel.

“… though I am happy to see a new and improved Chick Fil A coming, I am sorry it has to be closed,” said Lora la Fenix. “I will miss you guys while the construction is going on.”
