How Many Bat Roosts Are on City Property?

Have you ever noticed these small houses?

This bat roost at 12011 N. Riverhills Drive is one of five bat roosts located on property owned by the City of Temple Terrace. Each house is designed to hold up to 300 bats.

Other city-owned bat roost locations include:

  • Retention pond south of the Post Office on Chicago Avenue
  • Riverhills Park in the southwest area of the park next to the Hillsborough River, west of the boat ramp
  • West River Preserve across from the intersection of West River Drive and Falmouth Street
Temple Terrace is also home to bat roosts located on private property. If you're interested in having one at your home, visit the Temple Terrace Bat Tower Reconstruction Project Facebook page for more information.
