Joyce McKenzie, Neighbor

Joyce McKenzie is a graduate of the University of California, Davis. The mother of two grown children lived in five states prior to moving to Florida in 1990, where she first served as an area director for the American Cancer Society prior to becoming a reporter for The Brandon News in 1995.

In 2004 she became editor of the Temple Terrace News, a position she held until 2007 when it ceased publication. Both newspapers were owned by Media General, also the parent company of WFLA News Channel 8, the Tampa Tribune and TBO.com.

From 2007 through 2011 she worked as a staff reporter for the Tampa Tribune, covering the greater Temple Terrace community.

She often tells people if she weren't well settled with her husband, Rick, in their Valrico home, she'd move in a minute to Temple Terrace. She has a great admiration for its beauty, its residents and its unique sense of community.
