This week's Sunday Community Photo was submitted by Joyce Beeman.
Bea Shireling keeps the exterior of her home in tip-top shape, and now she's being rewarded for her curb appeal. Bea, a resident of Temple Grove Estates, received the neighborhood's "Yard of the Month" award. Joyce Hemingway presented the honor, and Patch reader Joyce Beeman shared this photo in the Temple Terrace Pics & Clips gallery. Now, we're featuring the picture as our Sunday Community Photo. Have a photo you'd like to share with the community? Add it to the gallery! Happy photographing!

Delaney Stano, 18, has been participating in the non-profit league for three years.
When Buddy Baseball Commissioner Russ Oberbroeckling paired Delaney Stano and Devin Jodway together two seasons ago, he couldn’t have known what a terrific decision he had made. “Every season they request to have each other again,” Oberbroeckling said. Buddy Baseball is a non-competitive recreational league for boys and girls with special needs. Each player is paired with a “buddy” who assists the player as needed. Not only does the program foster friendships, it also allows children with special needs to be part of a team. The non-profit program draws kids from all over the Tampa area. Seasons are played in the spring and fall at the Temple Terrace Family Recreation Complex softball fields. The league just wrapped up it’s spring season …

Tom Allison appeared on the PBS show in February.
If you’ve ever watched “Antiques Roadshow” on PBS, you know there’s always that moment when the appraiser pauses before telling a guest the value of his or her antique. Sometimes the item the person has brought onto the show is really interesting and worth lots of money. Other times, it’s a reproduction that isn’t worth much of anything. Luckily for Temple Terrace photographer Tom Allison, the family record he took to the show ended up being appraised for about 23 times what he paid for it. “It was just a lot of fun,” he said of the experience. Allison has always been intrigued by old photographs, and he’s turned his fascination into a profession. He travels to antique stores, estate sales and flea markets all over the country to buy old …

Schine, a civic leader credited with saving Woodmont Clubhouse in Temple Terrace, died Sunday.
Jerry Schine will remember his late wife as a devoted and loving mother, a friend to many, a selfless volunteer and a civic leader. “When she saw things that needed to be done, she got them done,” Jerry said. Marjorie “Margie” Schine died Sunday at the age of 89. Margie was born on Nov. 6, 1923, as a fourth-generation Tampa native. She married Jerry in 1955 and they moved to Temple Terrace the next year. They had a son and named him Michael. Margie was a go-getter, but she tackled obstacles without being pushy. “In the 1941 (Plant) High School Annual, she was voted sweetest and friendliest,” Jerry said. “And that she was.” In 1958, Margie was a charter member of the GFWC Temple Terrace Junior Woman’s Club and was its president one year …

A launch party takes place May 23.
Pat Sanchez isn’t an artist, but she has a passion for helping those with talent show off what they can do. She also loves helping promote local businesses. That’s why Sanchez launched Everything Eclectic. The new business, just across the river from Temple Terrace, brings artists, businesses and nonprofits together in what Sanchez hopes will be a perfect marriage for all three. Everything Eclectic works with local artists to promote their works at local businesses. Venues, such as restaurants, that host the artwork are able to promote the sale of the works and they also gain exposure and business from social events that Sanchez’s company stages. Nonprofits, such as the Art Council of Hillsborough County, also receive donations from …

Blair Strange has combined her two loves: nerd culture and femininity.
Blair Strange freely admits that she likes watching "Doctor Who," playing World of Warcraft, and going to fantasy and science fiction conventions. “I’m a dork,” she said, laughing. “There’s no better way to say that.” Strange, 26, said her parents, Charlie and Leslie Strange, raised her to be a nerd. She has tattoos based on video games, she used to work at GameStop, and she even debates with her friends about wizards. But over the years, one thing has nagged her. “When I got older, I realized how excluded women were from that culture,” she said. Now, she has combined geek culture and femininity to create a 13-month pin-up calendar, featuring women dressed as characters from science fiction movies, TV shows and video games in a vintage …
