In honor of our birthday, let’s take a look back at some of our first stories.
I remember getting the phone call last April. A recruiter with Patch was on the line. She gave me the good news: I had been hired as the local editor of Temple Terrace Patch. I was excited to help build the site. I gathered business listings for the Directory, found talented writers to help tell the community’s stories and got to know the interesting people that make up this amazing city. I went full speed right up till the moment the site officially launched. That was just the beginning. I did a happy dance, took a breath, and then got back to work. It’s hard to believe that was a year ago. This job is more than just a 9-to-5. I live and breathe Temple Terrace, and I couldn’t be happier about that. I’m so thrilled about everything Temple …

We turn 1 year old on Friday, and we’re having a party at Café Kili.
For 12 months, Temple Terrace Patch has been bringing you stories about the downtown redevelopment project, new and innovative businesses, city government, and gardening and nature. We’ve met some interesting and inspiring people along the way, and we’re proud to be a part of the Temple Terrace community. On June 1, we’ll be turning 1 year old, and we’d like you to help us celebrate. We couldn’t be as successful as we are without you, so it’s only fitting that you share in our special milestone. Stop by Café Kili on Friday between 4 and 6 p.m. and enjoy free cupcakes and coffee on us. Thanks for a great first year, Temple Terrace. We can’t wait to see you on our monumental day!

If you’re looking for something to do this holiday weekend, there’s plenty going on in Temple Terrace. Shopping Lady Ashley Designs is transitioning to online-only sales, and the brick-and-mortar store will close after business Saturday. As a last hurrah before the move to the web, the store is having a final closing sale, offering 70 percent off items that won’t make the transition to the website. Co-owner Elizabeth Sullivan said the bargains are “huge.” “Give us a GREAT send-off!” she wrote on the Temple Terrace Patch calendar.
