Once again you gave us some great advice; “Stop - Look - Think” is such good advice. We should use this not only during the holidays, but all year long. Like it was mentioned during one of our town meetings, we always need to be aware of where we are, what we are doing and who is around us. If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. Go with your gut feelings. You know the cars on your …   more ›

Cyber Monday: Finding Deals From Your Temple Terrace Home

Are you gearing up to let your fingers do the walking on Cyber Monday?

Temple Terrace residents who don’t brave the crowds on Black Friday or Small Business Saturday still have one more big chance to save courtesy of Cyber Monday. Similar to the two other major shopping events, Cyber Monday differs in that consumers don’t have to leave the comfort of their own homes (or offices) to take advantage of some pretty big pre-holiday deals. All the bargains laid out for Cyber Monday are for online shoppers only. So how can you find the best deals online this Cyber Monday? While most major retailers that have an online presence aren’t tipping their hats on their online deals just yet, many have splash pages set up that they’re inviting shoppers to bookmark in advance of the Nov. 26 shopping holiday. Here are just a …

Santa’s awesome, but he doesn’t always deliver the hottest toys of the season on demand to Temple Terrace, no matter how nicely we ask. What's Tampa Bay Saying?

Holiday Shopping: Spending Limits For Kids’ Presents?

How much is too much to spend on children and teens? We want to hear your thoughts Tampa Bay!

As the holiday shopping season goes into full swing, some people are maxing out their credit cards to pay for presents and others are setting budgets and sticking with them. Scour just about any Facebook stream or stop in a local coffee shop and chances are you’ll hear parents debating the merits of setting spending limits. Or, you'll hear them lamenting about just how much they've already spent. The ideas for a perfect limit do seem to vary rather greatly. Some parents say $100 per child is more than enough. Others tend to lean toward much more generous figures. After all, there’s nothing like seeing a child’s eyes light up as they unwrap gift after gift. And that’s what we want to hear from you about Tampa Bay! Do you set spending limits…

Christmas is not about gimme-greed; it is about rejoicing in the birth of our Savior. $100.00 plus something special to wear to midnight mass is plenty for kids except in the case of a special present such as a bicycle. It is good to have kids participate in giving to very poor children, orphans in Haiti, and poor senior citizens who live alone. Never have them give anything used! New presents …   more ›

MOSI Shop Offers Holiday Gifts

The Elements Gift Shop at the Museum of Science and Industry has gifts for kids and adults.

Richard and Karen Whilden walked through the Museum of Science and Industry's Elements Gift Shop, stopping to look at puzzles and jewelry. The couple lives in Washington, D.C., and was vacationing in Florida last week. They had planned stops at Crystal River, Busch Gardens, the Kennedy Space Center and MOSI—the Sky Trail Ropes Course and IMAX Dome Theatre being the draws. While Karen Whilden looked at mineral and animal-themed jewelry, Richard Whilden searched for her Christmas gifts. It’s natural for MOSI visitors to stop by the museum’s nonprofit gift shop before they leave, but general manager Laurie Pinna pointed out that the store is open to shoppers who are looking for one-of-a-kind gifts for kids and adults alike.
