The season opener is set for Aug. 31 at Raymond James Stadium.
Temple Terrace football fans who are ready to forget last year’s lackluster University of South Florida Bulls season have a date to put on their calendars. The Harlem Globetrotters will be at the Sun Dome Saturday, and Globetrotter Special K visited kids at All Children's Hospital in St. Pete Wednesday.
Harlem Globetrotter Special K entered every hospital room at All Children's Hospital spinning his pink basketball on his finger. "Wow," said 14-year-old Sami Steers of Wesley Chapel. Special K performed tricks for Steers and other children Wednesday. He made spinning a basketball on his finger and head look easy, and that made children smile. "When they see one of us, they light up, when they see us spinning the ball on the finger they just enjoy it, if I can put the ball on their finger, they love it," Special K said. Special K and the Harlem Globetrotters will be performing at the USF Sun Dome on Saturday, March 2 at 7 p.m. and again at the Lakeland Center on Wednesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. For ticket information check out this website. We want to know what you think, Tampa Bay!
With Super Bowl championships occupying the top three slots in most-watched telecasts in U.S. history, it seems football is as popular as ever. Your child can start playing tackle football at age 5, but most play flag first. When these very young kids run into each other, it's not much of an impact to be honest. I'm not saying they never give each other a good hit because it happens occasionally. I never thought of it as dangerous, though. One important note; if the helmet is making the hit, the kid is doing it wrong, and the coach will …   more ›
