Florida College's Basketball Season Begins Tuesday

Basketball is an important sport with a long history at the college.

From Florida College:

will play Webber International University in the first home basketball game of the season at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Competitive basketball has been a fixture at Florida College since the first team was formed in 1959, and the team has provided its fans with a number of highlights through the years, most recently as finalists in the 2007-08 USCAA National Championship.

This will also be the first basketball season played on the newly refurbished floor in Conn Gymnasium. Since 1968, the Conn gym floor has taken quite a beating, supporting FC’s award-winning women’s volleyball team, intramural society games, decades of Homecoming events, and thousands of Florida College supporters attending each February’s Lectureship events.

Yet, despite the old floor’s history, the newly refurbished Conn Gymnasium will continue to be a rallying point and cheering place for the Florida College family—especially during the 2011 basketball season.
