BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT FISHER HOUSE

BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT FISHER HOUSE

If you’re a basketball fan, here’s an event that’s sure to put a bounce in your step. Temple Terrace will host its first 3-on-3 Charity Basketball Tournament, with all proceeds going to benefit the Fisher House in Tampa. The event starts Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 and will continue through Aug. 7 if necessary, said Recreation Supervisor Scott Andrews of Temple Terrace Parks & Recreation. Each team will consist of three players, ages 16 and up. The single-elimination match will feature games to a score of 21, counting by two’s and three’s. All games will be held at the Family Recreation Complex. Registration is under way now and will continue until all spaces are filled. We’re looking for lots of teams to participate, so be sure to get your team together right away and get registered. Registration is $40 per team. The winning team will receive a team trophy and $25 off registration in the adult Wednesday Night Basketball League. Donations also are accepted, and the Temple Terrace Rotary Club is assisting us by collecting all the proceeds and donations for the Fisher House Foundation.

The Fisher House is a private-public partnership that supports America’s military men and women in their time of need. Because members of the military and their families often must travel great distances  for specialized medical care, the Fisher House Foundation donates “comfort homes,” which enable family members to be close to a loved one during hospitalization.
