USF Grads Join University Area Community Development Corporation

The two newcomers bring diverse backgrounds, passion and expertise to the nonprofit.

The University Area Community Development Corporation Inc. (UACDC) has greatly benefited from the hiring of graduates from its closest neighbor and partner, the . Its two newest hires are USF grads Cesar Hernandez and Carla Miller.

Hernandez will serve as community engagement coordinator and Millar will serve as a grant writer. Both will help the nonprofit, which seeks to impact the blighted community located just west of the USF main campus.

Hernandez earned a bachelor’s degree while serving as president of the USF Student Government Association (SGA), and Millar received a master’s degree in public health.

“Cesar and Carla bring knowledge, enthusiasm and a fresh perspective to help the people of the University area community,” said Dan Jurman, executive director and CEO. “They both have strong ties to the University of South Florida, a critical partner for the future of our community, and share our optimism about our future and the drive to ‘make it happen’ for local residents and businesses.”
