During the yearly event, the Lewis community comes together to provide Thanksgiving holiday meals for local families with the greatest need, according to Tiffany Sperry, Lewis PTA member serving as yearbook adviser, publicity representative and historian.

“We do this by ‘selling’ feathers to be added to our turkey display in the cafeteria,” she said.

Feathers are $2 each, or 3 for $5. Donation forms will be sent home with Lewis students Monday. Students should turn in their money and donation forms to their teachers through Nov. 11 and listen for their names to be called on the morning show, Sperry said. Students will then be given the opportunity to write their names on their feathers before the feathers are added to the turkey display.

You don’t have to have a child at Lewis to participate. Anyone can donate to the cause by contacting Bonnie Salazar at bsalazar@salazarconsultinggroup.com or 813-989-0269.
