Students, Teachers 'Paint Tech Purple' for Relay for Life

Tampa Bay Tech showed its support for Relay last week with an annual contest.

Students and teachers showed their support for the by decorating classroom doors and wearing purple. It’s the second year that Shelly Hollingsworth, school counselor and Beta Club sponsor, has organized the “Paint Tech Purple” day.

There was a contest for the best-decorated door, a contest for the first period who had the most purple-clad students, and a prize for the most creative purple-clad faculty member.

Journalism teacher Lauren Walden's door that won first place. It depicted every aspect of Relay for Life, Hollingsworth said, including luminaria bags that were really lit.

“This is what I'm talking about when I say we are fired up about Relay!” said Cheri Donohue, Temple Terrace Relay for Life organizer.
