Florida College Students Donate Blood

The school collected 184 donations.

had its first of four annual blood drives last week, collecting 184 donations and exceeding Florida Blood Services’ projection for the college by nearly 60 donors.

Students rallied their spirits, calmed their needle-nerves, and even trudged across campus through the rain to donate in Sutton Hall, said Jared Barr, a spokesperson for the school.

Barr said Florida College has a history of successful blood drives, and Florida Blood Services’ Lory Jones said that’s because “the students know it’s the right thing to do.”

She said the college gets students excited about saving lives and giving back to the community.

Ralph Walker, the college’s director of Public Relations, said students share a strong sense of commitment to others. Florida College is a community-focused school with students who want to give back and get involved.

“We all want to be part of this, and everyone is on board with it,” he said.
