Today is Voting Registration Deadline for Presidential Primary

Temple Terrace voters will also have the opportunity to vote on an economic referendum in the Jan. 31 election.

From the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office:

Today marks the registration deadline for voters who wish to cast a ballot in the upcoming . New voter and change of party registrations must either bear today’s postmark, or be delivered to any elections office by 5 p.m.

Florida is a “closed primary” state, which means voters must be registered members of a political party to vote for that party’s candidate. In the Jan. 31 election, voters must be registered members of the Republican Party to be eligible to vote for the Republican Party’s presidential nominee.

There will also be the opportunity for Temple Terrace residents to vote on a regarding city's proposed economic development property tax exemptions for new businesses and expansions of existing businesses. The idea behind the referendum is to draw in business, which would in turn stimulate economic development and create new jobs, officials have said.

Anyone who would like to register or update their information can do so at any Supervisor of Elections office,  or driver license office. The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office is encouraging Temple Terrace residents who are registered to check the accuracy of their information.
