The candidates, incumbents and issues that will be affecting Temple Terrace and Hillsborough County.

As we look ahead to November’s elections, Temple Terrace Patch is devoted to bring you the information you need about every race in town. Here are several that locals are already talking about:

President Barack Obama: The president’s run for reelection has locals riding both sides of the fence. Who has your vote for president?

Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections: Three candidates have already filed to run for the post being vacated by Earl Lennard, who is not running for re-election. , threw his hat into the ring next week and will oppose Democrats Craig Latimer and Thomas Scott.

Hillsborough County Property Appraiser: Incumbent Rob Turner's recent scandal involving pornographic emails sent to a co-worker in November. Also running are two Democrats, former State Rep. Bob Henriquez and real estate broker James DeMio, and Rob Townsend, who is running without party affiliation.

Hillsborough County Commissioners, Districts 2 & 3: Republican Victor Crist is being challenged by Lutz resident Sharon Calvert, also a Republican, for the District 2 seat. District 3 Republican incumbent Les Miller is being challenged by Republican Willie Lee Lawson, of Tampa.

Temple Terrace Mayor and City Council: Mayor Joe Affronti and Councilman Ron Govin have served two consecutive terms and my not run again this year. Councilwoman Mary Jane Neale was elected in November 2008 and has served one term. Her seat is also available. So far, Cheri Donohue and Frank Chillura have thrown their hats in the ring for the non-partisan mayor’s seat.
