Redevelopment Project Part of Regional Meeting

The Suncoast League of Cities will meet in Temple Terrace Saturday and take a tour of the downtown redevelopment area.

Dignitaries from around the state will get a close-up look at Temple Terrace’s downtown redevelopment project Oct. 29 when the community hosts a meeting of the Suncoast League of Cities.

The event takes place at the , 200 Inverness Ave. A business meeting and economic roundtable discussion will begin at 11 a.m., followed by lunch and a walking tour of the city’s downtown redevelopment area. A tour bus will ferry league members to the project site and back to the country club.

Temple Terrace Vice Mayor Mary Jane Neale, a member of the league’s executive committee, will serve as host to the delegation, along with Kim Leinbach.

Michael Vlass of Vlass Temple Terrace, LLC, the city’s project developer, will conduct the tour and answer questions. The city thanks the Vlass group for covering the event’s costs.

Temple Terrace’s redevelopment project is the biggest municipal improvement project in city history. The 500,000-square-foot project will include retail, residential, restaurant, office and civic components, including a modern new Arts & Education Center.

A new “Main Street” through the heart of the development is under construction. It is expected to be completed by Thanksgiving.

The Suncoast League of Cities consists of 30 member cities in five counties on the West Coast of Florida. The organization works to represent the interests of the region in the Florida Legislature. The league’s current president is Thom Barnhorn of the City of Seminole.
