Redevelopment Not on Sept. 18 Agenda—Yet

The city has not received a final proposal from developer Vlass Temple Terrace.

Although Temple Terrace Mayor Joe Affronti and the City Council discussed having a final vote on the residential aspect of the downtown redevelopment project at their Sept. 18 meeting, the measure has not been put on the agenda yet.

The city is waiting on a final revision from Vlass Temple Terrace, the developer of the project, according to Michael Dunn, the city’s public information officer.

“At this point, it’s just a regular Tuesday night council meeting,” he said.

At a workshop Sept. 1, Vlass’ attorney, David Smith, told council members, who were acting as the Temple Terrace Redevelopment Agency, that they need to make a final decision on the project. Smith said that he would submit Vlass’ final revised plan to the city by the end of last week and asked the TTRA to forgo another workshop and vote the plan up or down Sept. 18.

Affronti agreed that the council should come to a final consensus.

“We have to decide one way or another,” he said Sept. 1. “We can’t keep going—it’s been almost a year now.”

But the city has not yet received Vlass’ revised plan from Smith. Although Dunn said the city does expect to receive the proposal at some point, he said the city is not sure it will have time to put the measure on the Sept. 18 meeting agenda.

“At this point, everything’s still in limbo,” he said.
