Library Invites Kids to Celebrate its 50th Anniversary

Kids and teens have until March 31 to enter an essay and poster contest.

The is celebrating a milestone this year, and its inviting kids and teens to the party.

Youth can enter the library’s Why I Love My Library Essay & Poster Contest through March 31. They can create an essay, a poster, or both. Entries will be accepted at the library.

Entry forms are available through the Temple Terrace Library web site and with this story. One form must be completely filled out for each entry. The form must be attached to the entry.

Entries will be judged by age level, and judging will take place the first week of April.

A 50th anniversary celebration will take place April 9-14, and contest winners will receive prizes April 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Prizes will be provided by the Friends of the Temple Terrace Public Library. First-place winners will receive eReaders; second-place winners will receive $40 gift certificates to a Barnes & Noble; and third-place winners receive $20 gift certificates to the Library Book Nook store.

Official essay contest rules are:

  • Essays must be no longer than 400 words.
  • Essays must describe why you love your library.
  • Essays must be appropriate for a general audience.
  • Essays will be judged on effectiveness of content, relevance of subject matter, and style.

Official poster contest rules are:

  • Posters must be 11-by-17-inches.
  • Posters must show why you love your library.
  • A variety of materials may be used, including paint, pen and ink, crayon, chalk, or markers.
  • No copyrighted characters or clipart are allowed.
  • Posters will be judged on relevance to theme, artistic merit, technique and creativity.
