Mayor Recognizes ‘Great Citizen’ for Work with Schools

Temple Terrace Mayor Frank Chillura presented Gwen Mora with a certificate Tuesday.

After nine years of building relationships with the Hillsborough County school district as a member of the Temple Terrace School Support Committee, Gwen Mora is stepping down.

Mora served on the committee from its inception in April 2004 to June 2013. She received a certificate of recognition from Mayor Frank Chillura and the City Council on Tuesday for her efforts.

“Ms. Mora has been a great citizen of our community and has certainly volunteered many hours to one of our great boards: the School Support Committee,” Chillura said. “And we appreciate that.”

“Great people don’t do great things without people supporting them,” she said.

Although Mora is leaving the committee, she still plans to be active at Riverhills Elementary School and co-chair Temple Terrace Reads.

Cyndi Mohler, chairwoman of the School Support Committee, said Mora has been an asset to the committee and the community.

“With her experience in education as a teacher, principal, parent and volunteer, her background helped to guide the mission of our committee,” Mohler said.
