Pam Bondi to Swear In Mayor, Council

Pam Bondi will conduct the ceremony for the newly-elected officials during the Temple Terrace City Council meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, daughter of former Temple Terrace Mayor Joseph C. Bondi, Jr., will swear in the city’s new mayor and City Council members at the Nov. 20 City Council meeting.

Mayor Joe Affronti and City Council members Ron Govin and Mary Jane Neale will be recognized before Bondi swears in Mayor-Elect Frank Chillura and new City Council members Grant Rimbey and Eddie Vance. Neale is expected to be absent from the meeting, according to the agenda.

There will be a reception to welcome the new officials and honor the outgoing office holders at the city’s Public Works office immediately following the meeting. The event will be catered by the King High School Culinary Arts Department under the direction of Anna Duval, said City Clerk Lisa Small. The public is invited to attend.

Bondi was elected as Florida’s Attorney General in 2010 after serving as Hillsborough County assistant state attorney. In August, she was a featured guest speaker at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

Before the new officials are sworn in, the current council is expected to accept the results of the Nov. 6 election.

According to the meeting agenda, they’ll also consider resolutions to:

  • award a contract to The Ash Group to perform design and engineering services for the renovation of University Square Park in the amount of $34,408.24; and
  • approve the Interlocal Agreement between the city and Hillsborough County for the distribution of $9,761.75 of a Florida Department of Health grant to support the city’s emergency medical services.

The Temple Terrace Highlander Band is expected to kick of the meeting, which will begin at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. It will be televised live on Verizon Channel 39 and Bright House Channel 950 and rebroadcast on Mondays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays at 2 p.m.
