Expo Showcases Services for Seniors

The annual free event features important information for seniors, along with door prizes, lunch, entertainment and more.

The 23rd annual Temple Terrace Senior Expo will bring together a wealth of services, products and important information tailored specifically for seniors, caregivers and others on March 16.

The free event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the  and offers seniors and their families a chance to meet one-on-one with representatives of area businesses and agencies that cater to their needs. More than 40 agencies, organizations and businesses will be on hand to distribute information, answer questions and demonstrate their products and services. Among those participating are:

Free blood-pressure checks and glucose screenings will be offered. There will be musical entertainment, door prizes, bingo and other fun-filled activities. Many City of Temple Terrace departments will be on hand, too, with personnel ready to answer questions and provide brochures and other handouts.

Seniors also can dispose of old, unwanted medicines through Operation Medicine Cabinet, sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care. Just bring any expired, unused or unwanted medicines and prescription drugs to the event between 9 a.m. and noon. Police officers will take them to a hazardous waste collection site for disposal.

A free continental breakfast will be available at 8 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.

A free “to go” lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to noon, courtesy of Hillsborough County Aging Services.
