City Council to Discuss Annexation, Marketing

The council will also recognize three "Terrace Stars" and see City Manager Gerald Seeber take his oath of office.

Temple Terrace Mayor Frank Chillura and the City Council will be busy at City Hall on Tuesday, May 7.

Not only will they meet at the newly renovated City Council Chambers at 5 p.m. for a workshop on the city’s marketing campaign, they’ll also discuss several items at their regular meeting at 6 p.m.

According to the workshop agenda, Chillura and the council will hear a report on recent marketing efforts as presented by Tim Lancaster, of Lancaster Designs, and Margie Martin, of Martin Communications. The report is titled “Fulfilling the Vision–City of Temple Terrace Marketing Plan Summary.”

During the meeting that follows, council members are scheduled to consider the voluntary annexation of approximately 1.66 acres of property and adjacent right-of-way at 7749 Temple Terrace Highway. A 7 Star Food Mart sits on the property, which is located on the southwest corner of the Temple Terrace Highway/North 78th Street intersection.

At the beginning of the meeting, City Manager Gerald Seeber is slated to take his oath of office.

And immediately following Seeber’s oath, Chillura and council members will recognize three brothers being honored in the city’s new “Terrace Star” program, which acknowledges kids in local schools who have made special academic achievements. The first recipients will be the Glow brothers—Joshua, Benjamin and Samuel—who shined at science fairs earlier this year.

Chillura said he’s looking forward to recognizing “Terrace Stars” at future council meetings. Local schools have been notified of the program and encouraged to nominate kids who stand out academically.

“To me, as a kid, that would have really been cool (to be recognized by the council),” Chillura said. “These kids are our future.”

The workshop and meeting agendas can be found on the archive page of the City of Temple Terrace website.

The Temple Terrace City Council meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. It will be televised live on Verizon Channel 39 and Bright House Channel 950 and rebroadcast on Mondays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays at 2 p.m.
