What to Expect at This Year’s National Night Out

The annual event takes place Tuesday, Oct. 1.

How can you show criminals that you’re fighting back against crime?

By joining the Temple Terrace Police Department Tuesday, Oct. 1 for the city’s annual National Night Out.

The celebration of police-community partnerships takes place at the Family Recreation Complex at 6 p.m.

“This family-oriented event attracts over 1,000 people within our community, including local businesses, state law enforcement, and nationally-spread organizations, such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving,” said Temple Terrace Police Officer Ken Stanton.

National Night Out was founded by the National Association of Town Watch. It involves more than 37 million people in more than 15,000 communities. Temple Terrace has participated since 1995.

Tuesday’s event will feature:

  • local and state law enforcement officers on hand to greet visitors and answer questions
  • demonstrations by SWAT, K-9 and Aero-Med
  • a rock climbing wall
  • a bounce house
  • sand art
  • face painting
  • food, including pizza, smoothies, ice cream and more

At 7:45 p.m., officers will join residents in a united neighborhood walk, so bring a flashlight.

Neighborhoods can also host block parties and have police officers speak to their residents.
