Violent Burglary Suspect Denied Bond

Sydric R. Reynolds will remain in the Hillsborough County Jail.

, the man charged after a violent burglary and multiple assaults in Temple Terrace last week, has been denied bond and will remain in the Hillsborough County Jail.

Reynolds, 23, has been charged with burglary, two counts of battery, battery with prior convictions, false imprisonment, exploitation of the elderly, and resisting arrest without violence.

Reynolds also was charged with similar crimes by the Tampa Police Department.

According to the , Reynolds approached an elderly woman at her Temple Terrace residence and asked if he could do some yard work. She invited him into her home and he held her against her will and threatened to kill her.

When the woman’s husband emerged from the bedroom, Reynolds struck him in the face, causing an open gash on his forehead, police said. Another resident in the home entered the room to assist, prompting Reynolds to flee on foot.

The couple recounted their story for 10 News last week.

Police chased Reynolds to a home at 8701 Busch Oaks Blvd. in Tampa, where he forcibly entered the residence, armed himself with a kitchen knife, and battered the female resident inside, police said.

Reynolds then climbed into the attic, claiming he was armed with a handgun. Temple Terrace and Tampa police officers formed a perimeter around the house, and Reynolds surrendered. A search revealed no firearm.

Reynolds has prior convictions and was released from the Polk County Correctional Institute on Feb. 20, 2012 after serving a three-year sentence for burglary. He has no known address.
