Temple Terrace Man Shot at Carrollwood Bar

This is the second time in a less than a year that a shooting has occurred at the popular Carrollwood nightspot.

The two men shot early Sunday morning outside a Carrollwood bar have been identified, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

The two men are Yakim Williams, 27, of Tampa and Sheldon Lillie, 31, of Temple Terrace.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the double shooting that took place around 3 a.m. outside Whiskey Park North, 11921 N. Dale Mabry Highway.

The incident began as hundreds of people were exiting the club. At least one man started shooting in the front parking lot, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

"One man produced a gun and shot at another group of men several feet away, as they made their way to their car," a sheriff’s office media release said. "That group took cover behind their Mercedes-Benz CLS 550 AMG, which took most of the bullets exchanged."

The Mercedes was hit by 10 rounds. Another parked car was also
hit by gunfire, shattering a window and mirror. Detectives recovered 17-20
shell casings at the scene.

It is unclear if there was more than one shooter. Investigators are also unsure if Williams and Lillie were targeted or if they were innocent bystanders.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance video from the bar. The manager of Whiskey Park North reports there were no fights or problems inside or outside the bar that he was aware of, before the shootings, the sheriff's report said.

Both victims have non-life-threatening injuries. A bullet grazed Williams in the bicep and head. He has been released from the hospital. Lillie remains hospitalized with a bullet wound to the shoulder.

"The scene was described as very chaotic as hundreds of bar patrons leaving for the night sought safety by either running down Dale Mabry or going back inside the bar," the release said.

Detectives are now interviewing the witnesses, reviewing evidence, and
tracking down leads. There are no suspects at this time.

In July 2012, Whiskey Park North was the scene of a shooting death after a fight broke out over a girl.
