Police Track Kmart Robber Through Temple Terrace

The man is still at large.

Temple Terrace and Tampa police tracked an armed suspect Saturday after they said he stole money from Kmart.

At 7:39 p.m., police officers responded to the 5400 E. Busch Blvd. Kmart in reference to an armed robbery, according to the City of Temple Terrace. The suspect had entered the Garden Center of the store, pointed an unknown caliber revolver at the clerk at the register, and then demanded cash.

The clerk pulled out the till and the suspect fled west on foot toward Overlook Drive with an undisclosed amount of money, according to the city. The Tampa Police Department's K9 and air service responded and tracked the suspect. The track ended in the area behind Corpus Christi Catholic Church and the Ridgedale Sports Complex, and the suspect was not found.

Temple Terrace resident Carol Dell saw commotion in the area.

“There were police on Mission Hills at Ridgedale east of 56th Street at 8 p.m. because the robber was still loose,” she said.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, according to the city. He was wearing a black sweater, blue jeans, a red and black ball cap and sunglasses with rhinestones on them.
