A man was arrested after a violent burglary and multiple assaults in Temple Terrace on Friday morning, according to the .

Sydric R. Reynolds was charged with burglary, two counts of battery, battery with prior convictions, false imprisonment, exploitation of the elderly, and resisting arrest without violence.

Reynolds also was charged with similar crimes by the Tampa Police Department. Reynolds has no known address; he was released from the Polk County Correctional Institute on Feb. 20, 2012 after serving a three-year sentence for burglary. He has prior convictions as well.

According to police, Reynolds approached an elderly woman at her Temple Terrace residence around 10:15 a.m. Friday, on the premise of doing some yard work. While in the residence, Reynolds then “forcibly held the victim against her will, threatening to kill her,” according to Deputy Chief Bernard Seeley of the Temple Terrace Police Department.

The woman’s husband emerged from the bedroom and was struck by Reynolds in the face, causing an open gash on his forehead. Another resident in the home entered the room to assist, prompting Reynolds to flee on foot.

Police were notified and given a description of Reynolds. Temple Terrace Police Officer Kyle Smith spotted Reynolds and pursued him to Broadmoor Apartments, 4939 E. Busch Blvd., Tampa. As more police arrived, Reynolds jumped a fence and fled. Police chased him to a home at 8701 Busch Oaks Blvd. in Tampa, where he forcibly entered the residence, armed himself with a kitchen knife, and battered the female resident inside.

Reynolds then climbed into the attic, claiming he was armed with a handgun. Temple Terrace and Tampa police officers formed a perimeter around the house, and Reynolds surrendered around 10:45 a.m., without further incident. A search revealed no firearm.

Reynolds was booked into the Orient Road Jail in Tampa.

Hmmm you forgot to mention that he was out on early release. He was originally sentenced to 5 years, but was let out after 3. If we actually kept that violent criminal locked up for his full 5 year sentence these poor people would never have been victimized. Way to go parole board... I hope you sleep well because had you not let this guy out these people's lives wouldn't have been taken apart by this violent criminal.
