Firefighters Quench Gas Station Fire

There are no reports of injuries in a local gas station fire.

Update (10:09 a.m.): Firefighters extinguished a fire at the Citgo gas station at the 6901 56th St. in the Temple Terrace area Sunday morning.

When they first arrived at the scene, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue workers found smoke inside the building and flames in the southeast corner, according to the agency. They extinguished the flames and stopped the fire from spreading.

An employee had been inside the building at the time of the fire.  A press release states he told rescue workers later "that he heard a loud noise and then saw heavy smoke and flames coming from a corner of the store. He was able to call 911 and exited the building right away."
