The victim then heard what she believed to be the voice of a young male teenager say, “I think someone is in the home.” Apparently in the haste to flee, the suspects knocked over some patio furniture, Misher said.

Mishler said he advises residents against placing bills or other important outgoing mail in their mailboxes with the red flag raised. If your outgoing mail is stolen and it contains personal information such as your bank check or Social Security Number, it can be used to steal your money.

“I suggest placing outgoing mail containing checks or other personal information straight into a U.S. mail box,” Mishler said. “We have one here at City Hall, in front of Florida College and in the parking lot of the Sweet Bay Store on North 56th Street, or you can go directly to the post office. If you must place outgoing mail inside the mailbox, do not raise the red flag; just leave the outgoing mail in the mail box.”
