Crime Report: Burglars Hit Homes, Stolen Boat Found

The following information was supplied by Community Service Officer Tracy Mishler of the Temple Terrace Police Department.

5000 Block of East 127th Avenue

A man kicked in the front door of a home before realizing a girl was home sick from school and fled. The girl saw the man pacing near the front door after hearing her dog barking and someone ringing the door bell, Temple Terrace Police Community Service Officer Tracy Mishler said. He walked between the door and a waiting vehicle a number of times.

The man tried several times before successfully kicking in the door and ran away after realizing the home was not vacant, Mishler said. The girl called her mother at work and was not harmed.

Recovered Stolen Boat

May 17-19

Meadowood Storage area

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies recovered a stolen boat near Hanna Avenue and Thatcher Road. The victim was not aware the vessel and trailer had been stolen, Mishler said. The boat was missing all equipment and the trailer license tag.

Vehicle Burglary

May 20, 8:56 a.m.

Christ Our Redeemer Church

A man broke the window of a 2005 Dodge van and took a black bag containing an Apple I cell phone and a video camera. The man drove away in a late model, black sports utility vehicle, Mishler said.

May 22, 11:13 a.m.

300 Block of Midlothian Avenue

A man tried to pry open a rear sliding door and ran away when it triggered an alarm, Mishler said. A neighbor saw the man leave in a 1990s gray Chevrolet Tahoe.

May 22, 11:06 p.m.

11400 Block of Louver Place

A person went into a screened back porch and tried to open the home’s sliding glass door, then ran away, Mishler said. An officer and dog searched but did not find the suspect, Mishler said.

May 23, 1:07 a.m.

9600 Block of Overlook Drive

A man took a green and black lawn blower and a Black & Decker weed trimmer from a covered garage before running away, Mishler said. The man jumped a wall at the Oak Manor Apartments inside Tampa city limit, ran through the complex before jumping a wall on the other side, she said. The man ran toward Myrtle Street.

Burglary Residence

May 24, between 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

6800 Block of Bluffs Boulevard.

A man kicked in the front door of a home. The burglary was discovered by a neighbor and investigators do not know what was taken, Mishler said.
