Sanity. Where did it go? I used to have it, I think. Surely I did. Funny thing is: I’m pretty sure mine is gone now.
When did I lose it? It all began when I couldn’t wait for my son to be able to talk and communicate. Boy oh boy, was I proud mom when that cute little boy lit up my life by saying “momma.” It was such an exciting time. Facebook didn’t exist back then, so I’m pretty sure I screamed out loud and called all my friends and family immediately.
Six years later and I’m left to wonder who my real friends are. No one warned me that the word “mommy” would later make me want to turn into Godzilla and trample people. (ROAR)
MOMMY! MOMMY! MOMMY! When does it stop?
At the dinner table this week, my son uttered the word “mommy” before each and every sentence. I finally stopped him and asked (in his mid-utterance of the word mommy): “Why don’t you ever start a sentence with DADDY?”
He looked at me as if I was crazy (which by this time I was) and said, “Because daddy is sitting right there.” (ROAR)
So I asked him, “Where do you think I’m sitting? On Mars?” (Needless to say I don’t think he got it.) Actually, I’m sure he didn’t because the next thing that was said was….”MOMMY, your silly.” (Sigh)
And so the night went on.
“Mommy, can I be done with dinner?”
“Mommy, can I watch TV?”
“Mommy, don’t forget to sign my school binder.”
MOMMY, MOMMY, MOMMY!!!! And this is just another reason why I have no sanity!
