What Can Home Builders in Tampa Florida Learn from 'Bob the Builder'?

Bob the Builder teaches valuable lessons to both children and Tampa builders!

By Lana Bingham

“Bob,” the cartoon contractor and his animated construction crew are heroes for young television viewers everywhere.  While building on both residential and commercial sites, Bob and his machines solve tough obstacles by using tactful problem solving. Although this popular TV series was created to teach children valuable life lessons, it can actually teach Tampa home builders a few educational pointers on how to get the job done right.

Team Building: When it comes to home building, teamwork is one of the most important skills to master. Bob and his talented team (Scratch, Gripper, Grabber and Scoop) all work together to complete projects quickly and efficiently. A Tampa custom home builder must apply teamwork skills while working with designers, draftsmen, engineers, landscapers, painters and other construction crew members.

Energy Conservation: A clean and healthy environment provides the setting for this TV series, surrounding the characters with blue skies, green fields and large sunflowers. Environmental protection is a reoccurring theme in “Bob the Builder,” and it should be just as important to a Tampa builder. Energy conservation products such as, Energy-Star appliances, CFL bulbs and water-conserving plumbing fixtures will not only provide efficiency, but will also save the homeowners money.

Determination:  Bob’s motto asks, “Can We Fix It? Yes We Can!” Despite how structured a custom home project may be, there may be a few unavoidable hiccups along the way, such as weather related issues (We do live in tropical Tampa Florida). However, a good builder will stay on track using determination and firm time management skills.

Quality Work: Bob doesn’t get hired just because he’s the only builder in town. He practices proper building ethics by ensuring quality in every job he completes. The same goes for home building, with only high quality products and appliances being used. A good builder will also offer an impressive warranty package to further protect you and your new  home.

Safety First: Bob always wears his hard hat. Tampa builders should always put safety first. Job sites, tools and materials must be maintained to ensure a clean and safe work environment. All sub-contractors should be licensed and insured and corners should never be cut in an effort to try and save time. Hurricane windows and proper mold prevention techniques will also create safer Tampa Bay homes.

Whether you are a young child watching Saturday morning cartoons, or a Tampa new home builder, you can take notes from the many educational episodes in this television series. We could all stand to be a little more like Bob the Builder.
