Groundbreaking for 3rd Temple Terrace Community Garden Set

The community is invited to celebrate the groundbreaking for the garden at Greco Middle School on June 1.

The Temple Terrace Community Gardens are continuing to blossom.

Temple Terrace Community Gardens will host a groundbreaking for its third community garden site at Greco Middle School on Saturday, June 1 from 9 to 11 a.m.

The public is invited to join members and community garden friends and donate an edible or ornamental vine to plant along the fence that borders the garden and the school track.

Rich compost will be provided by Busch Gardens and garden tools from Ames True Value will be available for those planting a vine.

TTCG is accepting many types of vines, as long as they are not poisonous. Examples include purple granadilla, honeysuckle, wisteria, confederate jasmine, blue glory, pink jasmine and edible vines like pigeon pea, sugar snap pea, boniato, butterfly pea (the flowers), chayote, Muscadine grape, hairy cowpea, creeping cucumber and perennial peas like winged beans or Scarlett runner beans.
