Shelter for Flooding Victims Opens in USF Area

Greco Middle School opened its doors to residents at 4:30 p.m. today, June 25.

University of South Florida area residents who are experiencing problems with flooding now have a place to seek shelter from the storm.

In light of flooding in the area caused by Tropical Storm Debby, Hillsborough County has opened a shelter at Greco Middle School, 6925 E. Fowler Ave., in Tampa.

According to a media release, the shelter was activated at 4:30 p.m. today, June 25.

County officials are also providing transportation to the shelter for residents who cannot get there.

“Transportation will be provided to the shelter to residents in need at the 122nd block of North 15th Street by Hillsborough County Sunshine Line,” the release said. “Buses will be running regularly from this corner until all of the residents that wish to be transported have been transported.”
