Boil Water Notice Lifted for North Tampa

Testing results are good, so the warning has expired.

The precautionary boil water notice for City of Tampa water customers affected by the transmission break on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard has been lifted.

The Tampa Water Department says test results returned over two consecutive days confirm that water being provided to affected customers is safe to drink.

“The City of Tampa sincerely appreciates all customers' patience as we worked
to fully restore water service,” the department said in a release.

Residents north of Fowler Avenue and other customers who experienced a loss of pressure or service interruption were asked to begin boiling their water on Friday. The precaution applied to all water used for drinking and cooking until bacteriological testing had been completed.

The interruption in water service had an impact on local businesses, who had to use bottled water and disable ice machines and water fountains.

Customers looking for a caffeine buzz in nearby New Tampa were disappointed to find a sign on the window of the local there saying they would be closed until further notice, while other eateries shut down early Saturday. On Friday, Skipper's Smokehouse canceled its evening show entirely.
