Best of 2012: Riverhills Park Playground Accommodates All Children’s Needs

We're reviewing 2012 by remembering our favorite stories from each month of the year. In May, the playground at Riverhills Park became all-inclusive.

As 2012 comes to a close, Temple Terrace Patch is taking a look back at the year that was.

In May, the City of Temple Terrace had a dedication for the playground at Riverhills Park, which was transformed into an all-inclusive space for children of all abilities.

The city worked from January to May to transform the 17-year-old playground into an area that features special swing seats, ADA compliant ground-level features, musical instruments, a poured-in-place rubber safety surface and other amenities that can be enjoyed by all kids of Temple Terrace, including students from Riverhills Elementary School, which is adjacent to the playground.

The project came to fruition through Clouds of Hope, a non-profit created by the Blain family of Temple Terrace. In August, Renee Blain was named "Citizen of the Year."
