Health Benefits of Sushi

The type of seaweed used for rolled sushi is rich in protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Scribd.com claims that sushi has 20 times the health benefits of a green salad!  This is because Nori, the type of seaweed used for rolled sushi is rich in protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and trace minerals. And when compared with plants that grow on land, seaweed or sea vegetables from the ocean, are 20 times more nutrient-dense. I am sure that this comes as a surprise to many.

Sushi can also be a great option for vegetarians as there are so many vegetable options. Sushi is often associated with raw fish but there are many vegetable options if that is what you prefer. The seaweed is still extremely beneficial for your health and the fresh uncooked vegetables in the sushi provide you with the vitamins and nutrients that you need in a healthy diet.

The great thing is that it contains so much fish which is good for your health. Fish is often referred to as a brain food and that is because it contains omega 3.  Whilst all fish contains some level of omega 3, fatty fish such as salmon, sardines, albacore tuna and mackerel are the best types to have if you want to consume high levels.

The omega-3 fatty acids found in fish are not only good for your heart; they play a crucial role in brain function as well as in our normal growth and development. Some studies show that eating two or more servings of omega-3-rich fish will reduce the risk of heart disease and particularly sudden cardiac death.
