The director of Human Resources at Northside Mental Health Center accepted the Greater Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce award Aug. 27.

Congratulations were in order Tuesday evening for Cindy Kocher, who was named the Greater Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce's 2013 Citizen of the Year.

Kocher said she moved to Temple Terrace on her birthday in 1976. She's been involved in the community ever since.

"How could you not give back to the greatest city in Hillsborough County?" she asked when she accepted the award.

Listen to her remarks in the video above.

Other finalists included Maryrose Owens and Sherrill Tomasino.

Kocher has co-chaired the Temple Terrace Relay for Life and was an honorary chair as a cancer survivor.

She is active in the Temple Terrace United Methodist Church and chaired the Staff Parish Relations committee twice. She is currently the chairperson for the Executive Leadership Council.
