Chamber Preps for July 4 Celebration

The Independence Day holiday is one week from today (June 27).

With just a week left until July 4, the is gearing up for the 38th annual Independence Day celebration, which includes a parade and fireworks display.

At a city council meeting last week, executive director Barbara Sparks-McGlinchy and President Phil Lentsch handed out red, white and blue beads to council members and invited them to participate in the festivities.

The chamber also sent an email out to members Tuesday afternoon to let them know that July 4 T-shirts are available at the chamber office for $10. Sizes run from small to double extra large and quantities are limited, according to the email.

The parade will start at 10 a.m. at and should last 90 minutes to two hours, Sparks-McGlinchy said.

“It’s hometown but has everything you want in a parade,” she said.

There will be floats, dignitaries and the marching bands from and Tampa Bay Technical high schools.

At 7 p.m., there will be music, food and festivities at the first fairway of the .

The fireworks will start at 9 p.m., and they can be seen from the golf course.
