Chamber Gears Up for Business Expo

The annual event has a new location and other changes this year.

Chiropractors, roofers, bankers, attorneys, media and technology services are just some of the businesses that will be represented at the ’s on Tuesday, March 13.

Nearly 90 businesses have signed up to participate in this year’s expo, which will take place from 4-7 p.m. at The Galleria at the   Research Park, 3802 Spectrum Blvd.

“We may have closer to 100 by Tuesday,” said Barbara Sparks-McGlinchy, executive director of the chamber.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet a wide variety of businesses and collect giveaways and door prizes, such as gift cards, teeth whitening vouchers and coupons. Sparks-McGlinchy said the chamber expects between 1,000 and 2,000 visitors.

“We give them a bag, and they leave with a bunch of stuff,” she said.

This is the first year the expo will take place at The Galleria, a smaller venue than previous locations, such as the USF Sun Dome or the .

“We still have approximately the same amount of booths that we’ve always had,” Sparks-McGlinchy said.

Absent this year will be many of the food vendors giving out free samples as part of the Taste of the Terrace. In years past, the two events were combined. This year, the Taste of the Terrace will be a separate event that has not yet been scheduled.

“We wanted to focus on more business to business this year,” Sparks-McGlinchy said.

Approximately six eateries will have booths at the expo though, including , , , OrGano Coffee, and the .

Also a change this year is free admission to the expo, as well as free parking. Attendees can visit the chamber’s website and print out a pass, or pick one up from the chamber office at 9385 N. 56th St. Last year, tickets cost $10 each.

Although there won’t be food vendors, event-goers don’t have to go hungry. Beverages and snacks will be available for purchase.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet City of Temple Terrace personnel from the and departments, and . They can get a chair massage, a posture screening, or play mini-golf at the booth.

“Please come out and support your fellow members and check out the new Business Expo format,” chamber president Phil Lentsch wrote in this month’s chamber newsletter. “… I look forward to seeing you at this month’s Expo.”

I've attended the Expo for at least 12 - maybe 15 years -- the best part was the food. Not sure I'll go this year

The easiest way to meet local business owners is this one-stop venue. And who can beat the price of admission! I'll be there.
