Busch Gardens Names Lion Cub Sisters

After polling its Facebook fans, the park has monikers for both cubs.

The adorable lion cub sisters who came to Busch Gardens May 18 now have names.

Shaba and Shtuko were chosen as the winners by 6,000 Busch Gardens Tampa Facebook page fans during a weeklong poll.

Shaba means “brazen,” and Shtuko means “twitch” in Swahili. Shaba is sassy and bold, and Shtuko is full of personality and bounces around with lots of energy, according to a press release from Busch Gardens.

The sisters were born March 20 in South Africa. A male, who is not related to the sisters, was born Feb. 20. All three came to Busch Gardens May 18.

“The Busch Gardens animal care team has started introducing the cubs to the Edge of Africa attraction at the park, where guests can see the cubs all summer long and beyond,” a release states.
