Busch Gardens Extends its App to Android

The park's free application, which was first available only on the iPhone, is now being offered on the Android Market.

Over the summer, introduced its own , which guides guests through the park using GPS technology.

At first, the app was only available for the iPhone, but now its also available to Android users.

“In response to popular demand, the free app is now available in the Android Market, as well,” said Jill Revelle, Busch Gardens spokesperson, in a press release.

Android users can download the app by searching the keyword “Busch Gardens” in the Android Market.

An interactive map shows guests where they are located in the park and allows them to highlight the quickest real-time rout to their next destination by clicking the “Take Me There” button on any destination page, Revelle said in a press release. The app can give details on location, menu, restrictions and wait times. Guests can also search for the nearest restrooms, lockers and ATMs.

The app also features:

  • Interactive real-time map
  • Updated ride wait times and height requirements
  • Detailed information pages for all major shows, rides, animal habitats and restaurants
  • Important contact information to make reservations or schedule tours
  • Ways for guests to connect to social media sites
  • General park information and operating hours
  • Live local weather and forecast updates

As of Thursday, Android users reviewing the app gave it an average of 3.5 out of 5 stars.

User “marbles” called the app “useless” and said it kept forcing close. However, user “James” said the app “works great.”

“This app was so useful for me and my family on our trip,” he said.
