Who Will Dominate At Dominoes?

Seniors are invited to test their skills at the game during the Dominoes Summer Tournament of Champions.

Are you ready to try your hand in the boneyard to show you are the best domino player around?

Hillsborough County residents age 50 years and older are invited to register for the Dominoes Summer Tournament of Champions at any participating Hillsborough County Senior Center or Senior Dining Center including the Sterling Heights Recreation Center, 11706 Williams Rd., Thonotosassa, and River Pines Apartments, 7517 N. 40th St., Tampa. Tournament registration ends on Friday, July 12.

Players will compete in the first round of the competition on Tuesday, July 23 at one of the participating centers. The winners will move on to the semifinals in August. The finalists will compete in the final Tournament of Champions in September for the Division title, and will bring home the coveted trophy.

For those unfamiliar with the game, dominoes, believed to have originated in 12th-century China, is a game of skill and strategy using twenty-eight oblong pieces with indented spots ranging from one to double six. 

The pieces can be assembled in innumerable ways to create a variety of games, ranging from the simple to the complex.

Players interested in testing their skills at the game may pick up the game rules at the Brandon Senior Center or online under Dominoes Tournament Game Rules. Game times will be provided upon registration.
