Belly Flop Competition Part of 'Family Fun Day'

Temple Terrace is opening up the Family Recreation Complex to everyone, and you're invited.

Looking for a way to beat the heat this weekend? How about a poolside luau?

Temple Terrace is opening up the Family Recreation Complex for its annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, July 20, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

“We’re inviting the entire community, which means everyone can enjoy the day’s festivities as our guest—no membership required,” a city press release states.

Family Fun Day features:

  • Games and contests
  • Door prizes
  • Belly flop competition
  • Swimming and other water activities
  • Basketball, gymnastics, tennis, volleyball and more
  • Pool safety information
  • $3 hamburger and hot dog lunches, courtesy of the Restoring Hope outreach program

The free event is an opportunity for the community to check out the rec center’s amenities, including the swimming pools, tennis courts and fitness center, according to the release.

“It’s also a great way to learn about all the programs, sports and classes offered by the Temple Terrace Parks and Recreation Division,” the release states. “We’re always adding new activities, so come and find out what you’ve been missing!”

The event includes the city’s sixth annual Health & Wellness Fair, which brings together area agencies, organizations and businesses aimed at improving health and well-being.
