Temple Terrace Salutes Veterans

A special Veterans Day celebration took place Sunday at Riverhills Park.

Temple Terrace veterans and their families gathered at Riverhills Park Sunday for a special Veterans Day celebration.

The annual event usually takes place at Lightfoot Recreation Center, but because Veterans Day fell during the same weekend as the Temple Terrace Community Arts Festival this year, the city decided to tie the two events together.

City Councilwoman Mary Jane Neale was the guest speaker, the King High Naval Junior ROTC presented the colors, and vocalist Cheri Tysver sang. Mayor Joe Affronti recognized each veteran in attendance, and 11-year-old Gracie Saunders read a poem by Henry van Dyke.
