Temple Terrace’s ‘Trees for Preservation’ Have Arrived

The ongoing project enables residents to help keep the city beautified.

Living up to Temple Terrace’s Tree City USA designation isn’t easy.

The program, sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation, has some pretty strict standards to follow.

To make sure the city keeps its good standing, the Temple Terrace Preservation Society lends a hand with its Trees for Preservation project. The adopt-a-tree program enables residents to sponsor trees for planting along the city’s roads, in its parks and along the golf course. Trees purchased through the program are also used to replace those lost to disease or age.

“The majestic oaks and other varieties of trees that canopy much of Temple Terrace are a natural source of beauty and pride for the City,” explained society member Tim Lancaster in an email. “Part of the Tree City USA mandate is to be continually proactive in the care and management of the community’s trees.”

This year’s “Trees for Preservation” have arrived and will soon be planted throughout the city, the preservation society reported on its Facebook page.
