Can Temple Terrace Beat Palm Harbor?

We're out to collect a ton of food for Feeding America Tampa Bay and we need your help!

The Patch Give-A-Ton Food Drive is winding down, but it's not over yet!

Earlier this week, the Lucky Dill Deli in Palm Harbor generously donated 936 pounds to the 19-community effort. Thanks to that amazing haul, we're well over our goal of collecting a ton of food to help the hungry this summer. That, however, doesn't mean we we're stopping. Rather than call it a day, we've been inspired to keep going, stronger than ever.

The Temple Terrace Patch food drive continues through next May 31. Between now and then, we'd like to collect as much nonperishable food as we can to help Feeding America Tampa Bay keep meals on the table for the people it serves. According to Debbi McCarthy, director of development at Feeding America Tampa Bay, the agency serves a poverty population of some 700,000 people in the Bay area.

With summer just around the corner, the need for support is growing even stronger, McCarthy said.

“Summer is a particularly difficult time for food insecure children, who have no access to the federally funded school meals,” McCarthy said. “Heartbreakingly, many children face a long, hot, hungry summer.”
