Temple Terrace - Although it is posted on their website that there are no meetings over the summer months (June and July), the GFWC Temple Terrace Junior Woman's Club members just have to stay busy! In June they held a city-wide Scavenger Hunt Membership Social visiting local businesses for items and photos then lunch at Stefano Retaurant. Then several Temple Terrace Juniors went to Tampa Hope Lodge to have a pizza party and help the residents and caregivers make some hand made greeting cards. The American Cancer Society's Tampa Hope Lodge is a temporary residential facility for cancer patients and their caregivers to stay while they are receiving treatment at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. The cardmaking project brings a smile to the faces of residents and clubmembers alike as they create their own handmade cards. Next up is bear stuffing at Woodmont Clubhouse 415 Woodmont Ave. on July 18 from 6-7:30 with the Juniorettes and general members. Safety Bears 4 Kids bring hope and comfort to children in crisis. Interested ladies are encouraged to attend and have some fun! A Membership Social will be held at Woodmont Clubhouse on Aug. 8 for ladies who would like to learn more about GFWC and want to consider being a volunteer in one of the longest running women's service organizations in the world. Be looking for updates on the Temple Terrace Juniors' major fundraisers: Trot Thru the Terrace a 5K, 10K and 1 mile fun run on Nov. 16 and the Girls' Night Out - Holiday Open House on Dec. 2.
The GFWC Temple Terrace Junior Woman's Club consists of ladies aged 18 and up who want to make a difference in the community and the world. Some of the projects where the TT Juniors are active include: Humane Society Food Drive, St. Vincent De Paul Food Drive, American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Temple Terrace, Adopt-A-Highway Clean-up, the Book Exchange at Terrace Reads, Teacher Appreciation Week, the Heritage Ornament Project, and more. The club meets from Aug. to May on the third Thursday of the month at 6 PM at Woodmont Clubhouse, 415 Woodmont Ave except for the months of June and July. For more information go to www.ttjuniors.org
