Tampa Bay’s season opener over the weekend was a heartbreaker for sure, but it was a close one. While the 18-17 loss to the New York Jets puts a big zero in the record books for the Bucs, another chance to score is on the horizon. The Bucs face down the Saints Sunday, Sept. 15 at home. Homeowners in flood zones can no longer count on Uncle Sam to subsidize their flood insurance. While the soon-to-go-into-effect Biggert-Waters Act is likely a smart fiscal move for the government, the Tampa Bay Times points out it could end up flooding Florida homeowners with payments they just can’t afford. In some cases, policy premiums could rise by as much as 600 percent. Those increasing rates could affect homeowners throughout the Tampa Bay area and, in turn, have a negative impact on the economy. What do you think about all this? Are you worried about your rates? Tell us by commenting below.

Rain Chances Drop
