I don't know Frank Chillura but whoever advised him to hold his campaign kickoff in a Sports Bar and Pool Hall needs to rethink the campaign image strategy. Hilarious.

Dear JW:
Obviously, you are not familiar with Gaspar's Patio Bar and Grille. This establishment has been owned and operated by the same family since 1960. Gaspar's is a TT landmark. Jimmy Ciaccio, owner of Gaspar's, won Business of the Year for 2011 and is very generous with his contributions to the TT community. I can’t think of a better way for Mr. Chillura to show his appreciation, not only for his supporters, but for local businesses as well.

Hi Lori,

I am quite familiar with Gaspars. I know it is a landmark, I like the place and they are good corporate citizens. I am looking at this simply from a political standpoint. I don't know Frank, I don't even know who is running against him yet.

I cannot agree that a bar and pool hall are the wisest choice for a political campaign kick off. Future fundraiser, adult gathering etc. perhaps, but the kickoff? Really?

A mayor is suppose to represent all the citizens of the city. A more neutral family centered location would of been better. Lets take, for example, how some religious groups may look upon the choice, and there are MANY such groups in Temple Terrace.

Hey Timmy get daddy another beer. Bottoms up! Eight ball in the side pocket! Vote for Frank! lol, sorry, hilarious....

In your own words, you don't know Mr. Chillura. It is too bad that the location of his campaign kick-off would become a point of debate so early in such an important election for our city. Gaspar's is seen by many as a favorite family dining location, just like Shamrock's, Beef O'Brady's, and Gators. Whether you view them as pool halls or restaurants, many of our citizens enjoy these establishments. Rather than focusing on such an unimportant detail, it would be better for you to take note of Mr. Chillura's years of service to our city and his commitment to improving the lives of all its citizens. Do the research! How does it benefit anyone for you to comment about something that is of so little consequence to the actual election? This will be the first of many events designed to familiarize the community with Mr. Chillura and all he has to offer. I hope that you and all of the other Temple Terrace citizens will choose to attend one of these events (at a location that is acceptable to you) and get to know him. Then, possibly you can post something of value to this site.

Dr. Salazar

It's not a debate. It is a comment on the choice of campaign kickoff location. It’s not a statement of endorsement for or against Mr. Chillura. It is you, Dr., who are making it more by moving it to a personal swipe (political mistake #1).

How does it benefit anyone for you to comment about my observation if it is of so little consequence? As a learned supporter perhaps you should write on Mr Chillura's platform in detail to enlighten us?

Your supporting the choice of one liquor establishment by using examples of other's? I don't understand what you want to accomplish with that example.

Your statement "Rather than focusing on such an unimportant detail" shows naivety when it comes to politics. What is an unimportant detail to you can be a big detail to others. In politics no detail is unimportant (political mistake #2).

I can assure you bars are a big deal to a good size contingency in Temple Terrace and many do not regard such places as "family" dining establishments. Despite of the cosmopolitan nature of Fl. today temperance is strong and this is still the south, especially to many of our older citizens.

I look forward to learning more details on Chillura's platform. However, I stand by my observation that a campaign kickoff in a family community at bar and pool hall was not wisest choice, no matter who involved in the campaign chose it.

I think Chillura supporters need to light up lol, I still find it hilarious..
